Soccer filled Saturdays

Hey everyone! A huge part of life is soccer, and it's what I do every weekend. I started my day out watching Premier League soccer, my favorite team is Arsenal, which is headquartered in London, England. They ended up winning 2-1 having to come back from being down a goal.

Today is gameday, so we had a shootaround at 10a.m. At the shootaround we did light drills to warm up our legs. Some of the drills we did consisted of Rondo and then restarts. Rondo is a possession game where five people on the outside have to keep it from two defenders on the inside. And finally restarts are corners, fouls and freekicks. We just worked on defending them.

I then went and watched the lady bears play. They played against Kenyon in a scrimmage. We scored very early goal to put is up one. After a stalemate for another fifty minutes, the lady bears scored another one to secure the win. There are a lot of solid players on their team. I am excited to see what they can accomplish.

Now it was time for the men's bears to play. We traveled to Denison University and played in a one hundred and ten minute friendly. Shortly after the whistle, we got scored on. It was a true test of how we react to getting scored on. We started to connect passes together, but it was not enough. Denison ends up leading two to zero. As we gathered for half time it was time to discuss a change. We changed the roles of some players and we started to see progress. By the end of the second half, the score was two to two. We came climbing back into game in a quick 10-minute span. We were not happy with the end result, but it showed great progress in us as a team. Being able to bounce back is one of the best traits for a team to have.

  1. Hey Ryan, very cool to hear how you spent your Saturday. I spent mine very similarly other than watching Premier League soccer in the morning. My favorite Premier League team is Manchester United and they suck, so I do not watch them.
