Bringing Home the Win
Hey everyone! Yesterday kicked
off the season for our men's reserve soccer team. We traveled to Cedarville,
Ohio and played against Cedarville University. The field conditions were almost
perfect. The grass was short, and the field was flat, but there was one issue
and that was that the field was wet. Every cut I made I was slipping, and I
ended up sliding around the pitch for the entire game. Unfortunately, we went
down a goal in the first ten minutes. We passed it right to them and they
proceeded to counterattack us. After going down we knew we needed to focus up.
Our defense tuned in, and they did not get another valid shot the rest of the
match. When the first half whistle ended the half, the score was two to one
Ohio Northern. Our halftime speech consisted of strategy and dialogue on how we
can gather more goals. We poached our midfielders in the gaps they allowed us
have. There was a major disconnect in their midfield which opened up the weak
side every time. Our game plan was to attack on the switch because they could
not keep up with us when we went side to side. When the final whistle blew, the
score was six to one.
After the game we joined
Cedarville in a group prayer, since they are a very religious school. It was neat
to see two sides come together after a game and worship the same thing.
Overall. my favorite part of the game were the brownies we received for the bus
ride home.
