Employee Advocacy
Before reading this chapter, I had never talked
about employee advocacy. It is considered a word-of-mouth marketing that is
used to leverage the trust that customers have for their family and friends.
For those who are not aware, employee advocacy is defined best as the promotion
of a company or brand by employees who share information about their company's
brand, product, or services on their social media networks. There are major
benefits for bushiness through this strategy. Employee advocacy has proven to be
effective for smaller brands just as it is for international brands. A few
different advantages that can arise from employee advocacy consist of an
increase in the reach of messages across the social networks, employees will be
engaged with your company on a deeper level, and it will increase your
company's likes and comments.
A common misconception is that employee advocacy is a one-way street, in which it is not. It is important for companies to give the employee benefits as well, such as career growth, making them thought leaders, employee gains a wider network growth, and lastly any other incentive that a company is going to offer. So, using employee advocacy seems to be beneficial for both the company and the employee. The main topics that are discussed through employee's posts are job postings, product premotions or information, daily workplace life, and company accomplishments. I think it is very beneficial to perform employee advocacy, since it is beneficial to both parties involved.
